Legendary star of Polanski's Repulsion, Buñuel's Belle de Jour and Truffaut's The Last Metro, Catherine Deneuve is no stranger to the musical genre, having appeared in Jacques Demy's ever-popular Les Parapluies de Cherbourg and Les Demoiselles de Rochefort. She has twice won France's Best Actress César, for The Last Métro and Indochine for which she also received an Academy Award nomination. At the 1998 Venice Film Festival, she was voted Best Actress for her role in Place Vendôme. Catherine Deneuve appears in Léos Carax's Pola X and Raúl Ruiz's Le Temps Retrouvé, both of which premiered at Cannes in 1999.
